The College of Medicine at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University has taken a proactive step in promoting social responsibility by initiating an awareness campaign aimed at educating the public about the dangers of cancer.
The Student Council, representing the College of Medicine, collaborated with the General Directorate of Social Responsibility and Community Service to organize an educational campaign titled "Cancer Awareness." The campaign kicked off this morning, on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the university's medical center. Additionally, an exhibition will be held at Riyadh Park Mall during the evening.
The timing of the campaign is particularly significant as it aligns with World Cancer Day, observed annually on February 4th. The objective is to raise awareness about this global health issue, highlight the risk factors associated with cancer, present relevant statistics, and emphasize preventive measures.
The campaign is under the supervision of a distinguished group of oncology specialists. Dr. Issa Al-Sulami, a faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine and a consultant in hematology and stem cell oncology, is among the key figures overseeing the initiative. Dr. Abdul Rahman Nasiri, another faculty member specializing in internal diseases and hematology, is also involved in leading the campaign.
Through this initiative, the College of Medicine at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University is demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility and public health by proactively addressing the critical issue of cancer awareness.
