Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University received the Cultural and Educational Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Mohammad Irfan Helmi, and his accompanying delegation on Thursday, April 30, 2026, to explore areas of mutual cooperation and develop academic and cultural partnerships.
The delegation was received by the Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdullah A. Al-Asmari, in the presence of the General Supervisor of the General Administration of International Cooperation and Communication, Dr. Mohammed N. Al-Yamani, along with several University officials.
During the meeting, both sides discussed a number of topics of mutual interest. The Indonesian delegation was introduced to the University's academic system, its educational programs, and its efforts to attract international students, in addition to highlighting key initiatives in education and knowledge exchange.
The meeting also addressed opportunities to increase the number of Indonesian students at the University's main campus in Riyadh. Discussions further explored targeting outstanding Indonesian students, particularly those residing in the Kingdom, including students enrolled in international schools in Riyadh and Indonesian schools in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Makkah, contributing to attracting high-caliber students and enhancing the quality of educational outcomes.
The University also presented its academic offerings, which exceed 40 programs across various disciplines, while emphasizing its readiness to provide Arabic language programs for students wishing to enroll in Sharia disciplines for a period that may extend up to two years prior to beginning their specialized studies.
The Indonesian delegation expressed their appreciation for the visit, affirming that studying at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University represents an aspiration for many Indonesian students, and noting the distinguished academic impact of the University's graduates within Indonesian society.
It is worth noting that the University currently hosts approximately 50 Indonesian students across undergraduate and graduate levels at its Riyadh campus, while nearly 110 students have previously enrolled, with plans to increase this number in the coming period.
This visit comes as part of the University's ongoing efforts to build strategic international partnerships and strengthen its global academic presence, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, and to further support educational quality and knowledge exchange on a broader scale.
