Under the patronage of H.E. the President of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Prof. Ahmed S. Alaameri, and in the presence of the Vice President for Institutional Development and Community Responsibility, Dr. Khulood F. Al-Tamimi, the Intellectual Awareness Unit—represented by the Qur'an and Sunnah Program—held, on Monday, April 27, 2026, the closing ceremony of the President's Award for the Memorization and Recitation of the Holy Qur'an.
The ceremony, held in the Grand Hall of Building (326) at King Abdullah City for Female Students, began with a visual presentation highlighting the University's journey and its efforts in serving the Book of Allah and promoting faith-based values among female students. This was followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by the student Fay Al-Hammad.
Dr. Al-Tamimi delivered a speech in which she emphasized that the award reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's care for the Holy Qur'an and its enduring mission in serving it. She noted that the competition is not merely a contest among students, but rather an investment in people, a means of identity-building, and a reinforcement of the values upon which this blessed nation was founded.
She explained that the students' mastery of Qur'an memorization represents a living embodiment of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in building a vibrant society proud of its values, adding that true investment lies in faithful minds and hearts that adopt the Qur'an as a way of life.
Dr. Al-Tamimi also praised the exemplary female students who have memorized the Qur'an, affirming that caring for the Holy Qur'an is one of the pillars of building a Saudi individual capable of global competitiveness while preserving identity. She further commended the efforts made in organizing the award, expressing her appreciation to those in charge, the judges, and supervisors, and extending her thanks to Dr. Ali A. Al-Haddadi, Director of the Intellectual Awareness Unit, and his team for their contributions to the success of the award.
Ms. Najla A. Al-Qassim, representative of the Intellectual Awareness Unit and supervisor of the Qur'an and Sunnah Program, delivered a speech outlining the program's objectives and its role in developing memorization and recitation skills, as well as strengthening students' connection to the Book of Allah. She noted that the number of participants in the preliminary rounds reached 456 male and female students, with 24 finalists selected as winners. The total prize value amounted to SAR 150,000, affirming that this recognition aims to celebrate the winners and encourage their peers to engage in memorizing and reciting the Holy Qur'an.
The ceremony included an awards segment honoring the winners across its various categories, in a celebratory atmosphere reflecting pride in their achievements and excellence in Qur'an memorization and recitation.
It also featured distinguished recitation samples presented by the winners. The audience listened to a recitation by the third-place winner in the first category, the first-place winner in the second category, as well as recitations by the top winners in the third and fourth categories—demonstrating advanced levels of mastery.
The event included a segment titled “Journey of a Memorizer," presented by the student Ahoud I. Baiti, who shared her experience in memorizing the Holy Qur'an. In addition, the mother of Jana Al-Rasheed, the first-place winner in the second category, delivered a speech titled “A Mother's Feelings," expressing her pride in this blessed journey.
The ceremony concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continuing to care for the Book of Allah and strengthening programs that support its memorization and recitation, contributing to the preparation of a generation that upholds its values and identity and is equipped to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
