Under the patronage of H.E., the President of IMSIU, Prof. Ahmed S. Alaameri, the University's Intellectual Awareness Unit organized, on Wednesday evening, February 25, 2026, a ceremony honoring the winners of the “University President's Award for Qur'an Memorization and Recitation." The event was held at Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri Hall in the Conference Building, in the presence of the university's vice presidents and a number of ambassadors and representatives of Arab and Islamic embassies in the Kingdom.
The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur'an, followed by a speech delivered by Dr. Ali Y. Haddadi, Director of the Intellectual Awareness Unit. In his speech, he expressed his appreciation to H.E. the President for his patronage and presence, congratulated attendees on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, and affirmed that Saudi Arabia's care for the Holy Qur'an has constituted a firmly established approach since its founding—reflected in sustained efforts in printing, publishing, teaching, and encouraging memorization.
Dr. Haddadi explained that the University President's Qur'an Memorization and Recitation Competition represents a continuation of this enduring commitment and reinforces the Kingdom's approach to honoring the people of the Qur'an and motivating generations to engage with it through memorization, reflection, and practice. He noted that 456 male and female students participated in this year's qualifying rounds, with 24 students ultimately selected as winners. The total prize pool amounted to SAR 150,000, reflecting the university's strong commitment to Qur'anic education and the high level of participation and excellence demonstrated in the competition.
He concluded by thanking the entities that contributed to the success of the competition, foremost among them the Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Student Charity Fund, led by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Abdulrahman M. Al-Kharashi. He also commended the judging committee and the staff of the Intellectual Awareness Unit, congratulating the winners and wishing them continued success.
Following this, Dr. Abdulaziz M. Al-Turki, a member of the judging committee, delivered the committee's speech, affirming that the competition reflects the Kingdom's longstanding and blessed efforts in serving and honoring the Qur'an. He highlighted the country's leading initiatives in printing and publishing the Qur'an in various recitations, as well as establishing schools, institutes, and competitions that promote excellence in memorization, recitation, and interpretation.
Dr. Al-Turki praised the distinguished role of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) in serving the Holy Qur'an, noting that this year's edition witnessed strong and honorable competition among students, reflected in the close scoring and high performance levels. He also commended the continued support of H.E. the President and congratulated the winning students.
H.E. the President then honored the winners of the male students' competition for the academic year 1447 AH, in cooperation with the Intellectual Awareness Unit and the Deanship of Student Affairs:
First Track – Full Qur'an Memorization:

After honoring the winners, H.E. also recognized the members of the judging committee—Dr. Abdulmalik A. Al-Saud, Mr. Abdulrazzaq H. Al-Sulami, and Dr. Abdulaziz M. Al-Turki—in appreciation of their efforts in evaluating the competition and presenting it in a distinguished manner.
The ceremony concluded with H.E. inviting attendees to a collective iftar banquet held in the front courtyard of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Mosque.
