Students from the
Department of Engineering at IMSIU participated in the recent IEEE PES
ISGT2023 held in Grenoble, France. The participation was by Mohammed Al-Jarbou
and Yasser Ahmed, with a scientific paper titled "Flexibility of loT-based
Smart Houses Loads for Enhancing Distribution System Margins". It was
supervised by Dr. Walid H. Alfraidi from the Electrical Engineering Department,
with support from the Deanship of Student Affairs- Student Fund. The research
results revealed that the use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in smart
homes leads to a reduction in household electricity consumption, contributing
to the improvement of the capacity and efficiency of the electrical
distribution network.
