The Board of Imam Mohammad ibn Saud Islamic University launches "Law's Platform"

The Board of Imam Mhammad ibn Saud Islamic University launched, in its fifth session held on Sunday, 24, December 2023, the electronic platform for internal regulations and bylaws "Law's Platform" which includes all internal regulations and bylaws issued by the decisions previously approved by the University Council and its Supreme Council, in addition to regulations, conditions, and evidences and all that has been amended or added or canceled. which regulate academic, administrative, financial, and employment work at the university throughout its history. These regulations and regulations have been included in a technical format that suits their nature and the needs of their beneficiaries.

His Excellency the University President, Prof. Ahmed S. Alaameri, appreciated this achievement and affirmed the importance of its targets and the impact of those targets on regulating decision-making at the University, highlighting the organizational environment, and the previous inventory. He also extended his thanks to the project team at the Secretariat of the University Council and the Deanship of Information Technology and E-Learning for their efforts in completing this platform.

On his part, the Vice president, Secretary of the University Council, and the General Supervisor of the "Law's Platform Project", Prof. Mansour A. Alhaidary, explained that the platform aimed to create an integrated database that includes the regulations and bylaws issued by the University Council in a unified electronic platform for the purpose of unifying copies of regulations and their amendments, reducing their multiplicity or variation or missing their update, as well as providing the organizational inventory and precedents to University officials in a technical format that is editable and searchable. It is hoped that it will contribute to the development of organization and the improvement of implementation, and in maintaining the pace of administrative work and its speed by providing a comprehensive regulatory reference. In addition, the available technologies in the university's electronic portal have been exploited to facilitate the distinction between current and non-current regulations, between amended and non-amended articles, and between the regulatory text before and after the amendment.

Dr. Alhaidary also reviewed the project's timeline, which went through (6) phases, starting with the foundation and planning, then the enumeration and classification, then the provision of content, then the review and auditing, then the addition of data to the platform, and ending with the approval and publication.

Dr. Alhaidary explained the most important services offered by the platform, which are search service that allows for several options such as searching by title, content, thematic classification, beneficiary classification, classification of secrecy, decision number of approval, date of approval, date of notification, and by date of amendment, and the review service, which includes reviewing the content, the index, the information of the regulation, a copy of the approval decision, the original document, previous versions if available, a copy of the amendment decision and its information, and the regulatory text before and after the amendment.

Dr. Alhaidary added that the platform provides a copying service, explaining that this service is available through copy icons, where users can enable copying the text, be it the entire text of the entire content of the regulation, or some paragraphs of the text, and pointing out that the General Secretariat launched the platform in its trial version currently, where the scope of its use will be limited to university staff, by logging in with their username and password, and it will be made available later to all users.
