On the last days, both of Prof. Dr. Fahd Al-Asker, Vice-Rector for Higher Studies and Academic Research, and Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Moqbel, Dean of Deanship of Academic Research, have both attended a symposium organized by College of Sharia and Islamic Studies – El-Asha Branch entitled “Academical Promotions: Its Criteria and Problems”.
In his word before the audience, Dr. Al-Asker has stated that, although the academic promotions is significant but doesn’t rely on it within the criteria of improving the career path of the faculty staff member. “Faculty staff member must perform three key roles including teaching, community service, and academic research, that’s why academic promotion then is one of the major problem that facing by our country concerning the real and actual target of it”, added he.
“Al-Imam University doesn’t depend largely upon researches that targeting the academic promotions, but it opens its doors widely for financing the academic research with a number of initiatives that serving the academic research. Despite that fact, Al-Imam University occupies a finest place among its counterparts and it actually a place where researchers are always looking for”, pointed out he.
On the criteria of the academic promotions, Dr. Al-Asker has clarified that, they are crystally obvious within the terms and articles of the regulations and rules of the academic council of the university and they are ranging from scrutinizing the request by the competent department to implement disciplines and punishments in case of infringement.
From his side, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Moqbel, Dean of Deanship of Academic Research, have focused his words on the overwhelming response for academic publishing, and clarified that, faculty member must put into his considerations that, the intended research would have be within the frameworks of the adopted rules by the university.
