On behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Dr. Mufrej Al-Haqbani, Saudi Minister of Labour, has inaugurated recently the opening session of the 1st International Conference of Anti-Cybercrimes, organizing by Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in tandem with its College of Computer Sciences and Information.
Opening the session, Dr. Fawzan bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Fawzan, Acting Rector of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, has speech the audience, where he stated that, the current age we are witnessing is informational, as mass leaps in codifying and storing information has done. “Despite of this academic boom, which serving humanity, but it is already threatening with tamper and organized crime, that breaches privacy of people and networks of companies, banks and governmental institutions in both military and political areas”, added Dr. Al-Fawzan.
Shedding lights on the significance of launching the conference, Dr. Al-Fawzan has clarified that, cybercrimes are poses of threatening the security and safety of the community, as well as an obsession occupies academia, decision-makers, and jurists, to put an end to these cybercrimes and enact deterrent laws and legislation. “Increase of cybercrimes come as a result of the remarkable expansion witnessed by the entire world in the use of IT, and the complicated online crimes by using of PCs and smartphones with a target to penetrate networks or sabotaging or hacking them”, added he.
Concluding his words, Dr. Al-Fawzan has pointed out that, the conference aims to raise the awareness of anti-cybercrimes and the communal awareness about its need to security and safety, as well as awareness the people of Saudi community with the procedures and mechanisms of combating such crimes, and enhances partnerships locally and internationally in this filed.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Mufrej Al-Haqbani has expressed about his happiness with the keenness of Al-Imam University with the topic of the conference, considering this keenness to focus on such important topic reflects the care and diligence of the Saudi Government and all its academic institutions to stop these cybercrimes that threatening the security and safety of the community. He hoped the conference would have strong solutions and recommendations participate in spreading academic and security awareness about the gravity of cybercrimes and ways to combating them.
From his side, Dr. Isa Al-Isa, Dean of College of Computer Sciences and Information, and Head of Academic Committee of the Conference, has stated that, a variety of views and researches on the contemporary cybercrime issues will be showcasing during the conference. The conference program agenda consists of a number of events including workshops, Q&A sessions, lectures, pamphlets, and an exhibition.
