 `Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Presides Governing Board of IUT

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been elected by the Joint General Assembly of the Islamic University of Technology as Chairman for the Governing Board of the university for the next three years, says Dr. Muhammad Said Al-Alam, Vice-Rector of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University for Knowledge Exchange and International Communication, who represented the Kingdom in the meetings lastly.

The election of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has done during the first meeting of the governing board of the university, which has taken place at Dhaka, Capital of People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The Governing Board of IUT is composed of nine members including, beside Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Republic of Turkey, State of Malaysia, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Republic of Cameroon, State of Libya, United Arab Emirates, and the Republic of Uganda, in addition to representatives of IOC Member States.

In statements in regard with the election, Dr. Al-Alam clarified that, the Governing Board of IUT formulates programme policies and exercises technical supervision over the activities of the University. It also focuses on consideration of the programme of action and the report on the activities of the University and submits its recommendations to the Joint General Assembly.

It is worth to mention that, the core aims of the Governing Board varies to include, to examine the programme budget and final accounts of the University prior to their submission to the Joint General Assembly, to consults the General Secretariat about the measures to be taken by the University to promote its objectives, to frames the Internal Rules and Regulations of the University prior to its submission to the Joint General Assembly for approval. Additionally, to approves the curricula of training and research programmes on the recommendation of the Academic Council of the University, to confers and grants degrees, diplomas and certificates as per approved academic regulations of the University.
