Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has honoured lastly Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University as the first educational institution and university to promote support of IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) in the Kingdom.
The awarding has took place during the Third IPv6 National Forum, which hold at CITC’s headquarter in Riyadh. CITC, as part of its effort to support the adoption of the IPv6 in Saudi Arabia, has awarded the enterprises and service providers that have successfully achieved major steps in IPv6 adoption.
The awarding criteria for enterprises require each enterprise to be a government entity or private sector entity officially registered in Saudi Arabia, enterprise's website is reachable over IPv6, enterprise's email can be delivered and received over IPv6, forward and reverse DNS is available over IPv6, and hosting website, mail and DNS in Saudi Arabia.
It is worth to mention that, Al-Imam University has successfully adopted IPv6 in a number of its websites including Internet Portal, Saudi Digital Library, Student Email, and Employee Email. Ongoing works are currently undergo to adopt IPv6 on all other e-services.
