In the presence of H.E. Sheikh Prof. Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail, Rector of Al-Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University and Member of Saudi Senior Ulemas Council, and vice-rectors of the university and all deans of the colleges and the supporting deanships, College of Computer Sciences and Information has celebrated recently its attaining of the ABET Accreditation Certification.
In significance with the celebration event organized, H.E. the university Rector has commended the step of retaining ABET accreditation certification for all programs of the college. He described the achievement accomplished as an unprecedented as Al-Imam University often receives due care and support from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and H.R.H. Crown Prince Muhammad bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, and H.R.H. Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
In furtherance, Dr. Aba Al-Khail has considered College of Computer Sciences and Information as one of the pioneering colleges of the university, which frequently seeks to sharpen the skills and cognitive of its students and broadening it. He promised, in statements, to help the college to launch its postgraduate studies on the next Academic year, and to increase programs of development inside the college and to expand the specialized training courses for all faculty staff members of the college and its students.
From his side, Dr. Waleed Al-Rodhan, Dean of College of Computer Sciences and Information, has briefed the audience about the steps undertaken by his administration to gain the ABET certification. He noted that, his administration has undertaken weeks of thorough planning and development strategies to meet the international accreditation process of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
It is worth to mention that, ABET is a US-based non-profit organization, recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), accrediting college and university programs in applied science, computing, and engineering. It is governed by its 33 member societies, who nominate and appoint members of the ABET Board of Directors, the Accreditation Commissions, and board-level councils. ABET has been providing accreditation services and quality assurance leadership for technical education programs in higher education for nearly 80 years. It currently accredits over 3,400 programs at nearly 700 colleges and universities inside the United States and worldwide.
At the end of the celebration event, Dr. Al-Rodhan was delivered the ABET certification to H.E. the university Rector, in recognition of his personal follow-up and keenness to attain the certification.
