​H.E. Dr. Azaam Al-Dakhail, Saudi Minister of Education, has inaugurated on the morning of the last Wednesday the 21st Meeting of Rectors and Chancellors of GCC Universities and Higher Institutions, an event that organising by Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University during the period of 15-16 Muharram 1437 H.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Al-Dakhail has stated that, the current time we are witnessing is competitive quality in its natural, and presence is to the finest and the best, so we are looking forward focusing on achieving high quality in education at all our universities. That’s why, we hopefully this committee would working on developing and innovating mechanisms to deal with the interconnection relations between all universities.
H.E. Saudi Education Minister further pointed out that, the Government of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is still keenness to support and back the common cooperation and work between all countries of the Gulf States “GCC” at all its levels, including universities and higher education institutions.
From other side, Dr. Abdul-Latif Al-Zayne, Secretary-General of GCC Secretariat, has speech the audience, where he reaffirmed the believe of all GCC leaders to support education as the success way  towards realizing the comprehensive development of the community, and as well it, the education, symbols as a strategic investment for GCC countries through programs of higher education.
He, in addition, clarified that, the true challenge facing higher education institutions of GCC is in developing the knowledge economics, which support the real economy directly and helps in delivering and deploying knowledge and information in the production and service activities.  
In his word before the audience, Dr. Fawzan bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Fawzan, Acting Rector of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, has welcomed all the guests and dignitaries at the premises of Al-Imam University. He made clear that, the meeting would discuss deeply the functioning mechanisms that contribute to the unity of GCC and the integration of educational institutions, as well as the equality of the people of the GCC countries in admission to universities. In addition to the join- completion of higher education, whether in the field of training programs or in the area of communal participation in higher education institutions, in addition to the stages that clinched in the vital project of the GCC information base.
Concluding his words, Al-Imam University Acting Rector revealed that, GCC General Secretariat has proposed a proposal regulates the administrative and financial aspects of the committee of GCC Rectors and Chancellors and it will be discussing at this meeting, in addition to academic incentives for academic research and activating it by the Excellence Award for the design and development of e-courses.
