 Rector Approves Future Vision of Special Needs Council

​Prof. Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail, Rector of Al-Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, and Member of Saudi Senior Ulemas Council, has approved recently the executive plan of the future vision of the Council of Special Needs Students with an aim to provide leadership in the service of people with special needs through establishing a specialized centre, support unit and a council to supervise students with special needs.

In significance with the approved vision, it has formulated to ensure quality in all programs and services offered for students with special needs. It has emerged from the directions of Saudi Vision 2030 to provide initiatives that support the achievement of the university’s requirements vision towards students with special needs, and its conclusions and recommendations were collected from the highlighted surveys and research conducted at the university on special needs.

The vision aims to integrate programs and services for students with special needs, and offer opportunities and facilities for them to ensure their independence and integration as active components in the community. Additionally, to create societal partnerships for students with special needs, and enhance the development service offered, and to promote initiatives and projects for them. 

The vision strength lies in the Physical potentials, the Human potentials and the organizational potentials in contrast to the challenges that facing the vision, which include poor qualification of some cadres working with students with special needs, low level of full preparation for them, and the lack of a specific budget for students with special needs.

It is worth to note that, the Rector's approval for the vision is the starting point for formulating a future vision for the Council and activating it. An executive plan for the academic year 1438 -1439 H will be develop addressing the following topics: initiatives, partnerships, exhibitions and events, exchange of experiences, programs and services.
