 King Approves Organizing of Interfaith Dialogue Symposium

​King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has approved to Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, representing by its Dialogue of Civilizations Research Chair, for organizing a symposium entitled “Role of Universities and Cultural and Research Centres in Dialogue of Civilization”, says H.E. Prof. Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail, Rector of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, and who doubles as Chairman of Al-Imam University Research Chair Program, recently.

Further on the issue, Dr. Aba Al-Khail has expressed about his appreciation of all members of the university for the royal approval, which he considered is comes in line with his administration efforts to keep pace with the initiatives of Saudi government that supporting dialogue of civilizations. “Calling of King Abdullah for interfaith dialogue among nations and civilizations and religions is the cornerstone of the symposium, which will focus on highlighting the critical role of universities and cultural and research centres as assessing its contributions and exploring its potentials”, added he.

From his part, Prof. Dr. Fahd Al-Askr, Al-Imam Vice-Rector for Higher Studies and Academic Research, and who doubles as Vice-President of Research Chair Program, has pointed out that, the themes of the symposium will include methodology and academic dimensions of dialogue of civilizations; role of dialogue in plans and academic curricula; unproductive events in universities and cultural and research centres; and finally contributions of those institutions in dialogue of civilizations.

“The symposium, which will organize in tandem with Pantheon-Sorbonne University, aims, among other things, to offer an opportunity for scientists and intellectual interested in the dialogue of civilizations to contribute to the development of awareness of the culture of dialogue, as well as to strengthen the partnership between universities and cultural and research centres”, added Dr. Al-Askr.
