Within the hallowed halls of Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, and from the heart of the Imam Cloud Foundation, the idea of “Wasan” was born; not merely as a fledgling project, but as an innovative response to a personal experience of engineer Muhannad Al-Juaidi during his student years. His days stretched for more than fourteen hours a day between lectures and academic commitments, prompting the question: Why isn't there a dedicated space within the university for relaxation that would facilitate perseverance and productivity?
From this question, the spark of entrepreneurship ignited, transforming a need into a vision, and the vision into a new concept of hospitality in the Kingdom: integrated comfort capsules, meticulously designed to combine a comfortable bed, air conditioning, carefully considered lighting, a display screen, headphones, private lockers, soundproofing, and connectivity—all within a secure environment that preserves privacy and supports sleep, studying, and relaxation alike.
The path was not paved with roses; The Wasan team faced organizational challenges as the first product of its kind in Saudi Arabia, difficulties with insurance procedures, and the meticulous engineering effort required to design an interior that adheres to the highest health, safety, and privacy standards. However, perseverance, institutional support, and the integrated efforts of the team transformed the idea into a vibrant, pioneering reality.
Today, Wasan's impact extends to three Saudi universities and expands to serve employees at their workplaces, reaching one of the Kingdom's most prominent travel gateways with the opening of its branch at King Khalid International Airport – Terminal 5.
This journey culminated in winning the 2021 Essamyoun Award and qualifying for and winning the Aramco Wa'ed Entrepreneurship Round, a testament to the excellence of the idea and the strength of its execution.
The story of engineer Muhannad Al-Juaidi is not just about a project; it's a model of a graduate who made the most of his university experience, launching from the Imam Cloud Incubator into a national project that contributes to enhancing the quality of life in educational, work, and travel environments – where need transforms into innovation, and experience into a sustainable impact.
