The Virtual International Conference “The Mutual Influence Between Social and Human Sciences and Digital Technologies", organized by Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) and represented by the College of Social Sciences, continued its sessions on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, via Webex, with the participation of researchers and experts from inside and outside the Kingdom, within a series of research sessions that highlighted digital transformation and its impact on the social and human sciences.
The fifth session, chaired by Dr. Hamad M. Al-Dosari, Professor of Medical Geography and Geographic Information Systems at IMSIU, was held under the title “Digital Technologies in Social and Human Research and Community Service." Discussions focused on the growing role of digital technologies in addressing social and economic disparities, enhancing political participation, reviewing quantitative applications in historical studies, and examining the impact of artificial intelligence on the quality of research in the social sciences and higher education.
The sixth session, titled “Cultural and Ethical Issues in Digital Technologies," was chaired by Prof. Dheeb M. Al-Dosari, Professor of Sociology and Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Society for Social Studies at King Saud University. Researchers addressed topics including preserving cultural heritage through emerging technologies, behavioral challenges among adolescents in the digital space, transformations in societal values due to digitization, digital criminal justice, and the use of artificial intelligence in clinical social work.
The seventh session, chaired by Dr. Hammad A. Al-Hamadi, Professor of Social Work in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at IMSIU, presented an outlook on future trends of cooperation between the social sciences and digital technologies. The session discussed cultural and ethical biases in AI systems, analysis of social behavior through digital identities, the impact of comments on AI-generated videos on social media platforms, and digital culture among preschool children, with a focus on building advanced digital awareness among upcoming generations.
The eighth and final session of the day, chaired by Prof. Abdullah A. Al-Yousef, Professor of Sociology at IMSIU, was held under the theme “Integration to Enhance Awareness Between Individuals and Technology." The session reviewed ways to develop digital competencies among faculty members, discussed challenges related to data protection and privacy, showcased successful models of digitizing cultural heritage, and examined the impact of artificial intelligence on journalistic content and its role in supporting developmental participation.
