 Governmental Officials Must Learn New Media Apps: Researcher

Dr. Muhammad Al-Chebel

A recent research study revealed that most use of applications of new media by the public relations departments in the private sector and further it recommended officials of the governmental organizations to carefully learn and benefit from those applications.

The study, which attributing to PhD researcher Muhammad Al-Chebel, was entitled "Impact of New Media on Functionality of Public Relations in both Public and Private Sectors in Saudi Arabian". Researcher Al-Chebel has successfully obtained a PhD degree from College of Communications and Media of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University.

On the PhD research study, Dr. Al-Chebel clearly revealed that many specialized administrative units in new media, such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, are more useful to provide functions of public relations administration. The results of the study further goes on showing the surpassing of the organizations that benefits from the new media applications in pubic relations than those using old-fashion applications.

In his final recommendations, Dr. Al-Chebel called on designing new regulations and policies in respect of the new media applications to help accomplishing the targeted objectives from them. He, likewise, urged postgraduate students to focus on the different aspects that relating to the impact of new media applications on the functionality of departments of public relations.

 Dr. Al-Chebel extended his thankful to H.E. Prof. Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail, Rector of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, and all officials and academicians whom helped him in finishing his thesis. The referring committee included a pool of academicians' staff members from inside and outside Imam University.
