On the last Thursday, Prof. Dr. Fahd Al-Asker, Vice-Rector of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University for Higher Studies and Academic Research, has received at his office here Dr. Saleh Al-Musned, Director of Unified Arab Index Centre, in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Al-Khulaifi, Dean of Libraries’ Affairs, and Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Moqbel, Dean of Academic Research.
Welcoming the guest, Dr. Al-Asker has kept him abreast about the key role being playing by Al-Imam University in strengthening knowledge and its contribution in the communal awareness. He, also, enlightened the guest about the pioneering role in serving Islamic-Sharia and Arabic sciences, which is the pillar of the university’s mission and vision.
In a similar vein, Dr. Al-Asker has praised the efforts and contributions of the Unified Arab Index Centre in order to provide outstanding research services to the research community of Al-Imam University, and enhance its potential of working in libraries and information centres. He noted that, the centre continues in lifting-up the Arab knowledge, and support its growth and cognitive development, and the talk about an organized institutional effort for indexing is not the goal but a mean to enable researchers and students from entering the knowledge society in a better and more effective way.
From his side, Dr. Al-Musned has briefed Dr. Al-Asker about the role could the centre playing in order to provide a suitable environment to encourage creative world-class research activities, referring to the orientation of the University toward globalization, especially throughout the classification networks of the academic journals.
At the end of the meeting, both sides have agreed to prepare a MOU between the university and the centre in the coming future.
